What are we eating?
“What are we eating?” is the tool that suggests which wine to open based on what’s on the table, choosing — whenever possible — from the bottles you already own.
How pairing works
First, tell it the context: “At home”, if you have your cellar available, or “At a restaurant”, if you just want general advice on the type of wine to order without referring to your own bottles.
Describing what you’re eating
You can describe the meal in two ways, whichever is easier for you:
- Free text — write a sentence the way you would to a friend, for example “pasta with tomato sauce and veal scaloppine”.
- By course — build the menu course by course (starter, first course, main, dessert…), adding the dishes for each with the ”+ Add course” and ”+ Add dish” buttons.
The occasion level
A 5-level slider lets you indicate how important the occasion is, from a casual dinner to a special occasion: the AI takes this into account in its suggestion, proposing for example a simpler wine for Friday pizza night and something more refined for a special occasion.
Reading the result
Tap “Pair” — this also uses some AI credits, shown before you confirm. The result includes written advice and, for each course, the bottles you already own in your cellar or wishlist that suit that pairing, with a note on whether they’re ready to drink, still young, or past their ideal moment, and their position if they’re in your cellar. If you don’t have anything suitable, the app offers to search the catalog for it.
If you’ve customized a wine’s page (see Wines and producers), pairing takes your version into account instead of the shared one: for example, if you added a pairing you feel works better, that wine can show up among the suggestions even for dishes the standard AI page doesn’t mention.
